About The Work
"Flirtation" is part of Deirdre Murphy's "Nest Alchemy" series, which explores the connection between neuron dendritic structures and songbird cup nests. The research was done at Lehigh University’s neuroscience department in collaboration with Dr. Jennifer Swann PhD, funded by a Humanities Lab grant. "Nest Alchemy" also reflects on the effects of climate change on the breeding and brooding seasons of migratory birds. This body of work has been shown at Winterthur Museum (Kennett Square, DE), Penn State University’s HUB Robeson Gallery, James Madison University’s Duke Hall Art Gallery, and 3 Dots Downtown Gallery in State College, PA.
